care • hard work • resilience • curiosity 09 We have a long and proud tradition of developing an extensive extra-curricular programme for all students. All students are encouraged to challenge themselves and get involved in the many clubs and activities on offer. The Creative and Performing Arts Department (Dance, Music, Drama and Art) offer a range of lessons, clubs and activities which students can be involved in. There are performances in all the disciplines put on in school throughout the year. The highlight of the calendar is a Musical Show at the Brewery which usually involves over one hundred of our students. Students of all abilities take part in the wide range of sports clubs on offer from rugby to rounders, cricket to badminton. The inter-form competitions that take place over the year involve most of our students and are hotly contested. Students compete regularly at local, regional and national levels, fully supported by the school. Many of our students are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, they raise money for charity, they are part of the environmental group or politics club. Trips and visits are extensive and broaden the horizons of our students whether this is a University visit, a trip to Iceland, our Year 7 residential or a languages trip to Spain. There is a lot to enjoy and get involved in. Learning Outside the Classroom “I cannot tell you how much he enjoyed the trip. This was a very significant step forward for him.” Parent
