OFSTED

“Students enjoy attending this school and are proud to do so. They work hard, approach tasks with enthusiasm and demonstrate sustained commitment to their studies. Their very good behaviour, positive attitudes and keenness to take on responsibility make an important contribution to the success of the school.”

Ofsted

The School was inspected by Ofsted in the last week before the Christmas break (December 2018).  In previous inspections, there was a full report with a separate letter for parents/carers and students.  After a short inspection, however, the report is in the form of a letter, addressed to the Headteacher, which you can find below.

The Inspectors observed lessons, scrutinised work and talked with a large number of students.  They studied parent/carer and staff views, as well as GCSE and A-Level examination results, and current students’ progress. The School remains Good, with its outstanding Sixth Form and outstanding Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare.

We are delighted that the sustained excellent work of all staff and students has been acknowledged.  We are particularly pleased that the Inspectors confirmed that we have continued to improve since the ‘Good with outstanding elements’ Inspection in 2014, saying ‘improvement has had a positive impact on outcomes for students.’  As well as agreeing with the positive comments about the School, we agree with the next step about improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

“The teachers are passionate about their subject, set high expectations and standards and succeed in motivating and challenging students. As a result, students tell us that lessons are enjoyable. Therefore students are enthusiastic and committed to improving their knowledge, skills and understanding.”
