Kirkbie Kendal School received an ungraded Ofsted inspection on 8th and 9th May 2024.

There has been no change in the school’s overall judgement of Good as a result of this inspection.

The report highlights many of the school’s strengths; some excerpts from Ofsted’s report are detailed below.  We believe these are some of the reasons that our students enjoy attending Kirkbie Kendal School.

  • Pupils are proud to attend this school.
  • Pupils value the friendships they forge.
  • Pupils value the care and warmth that they receive from teachers.
  • Pupils feel safe and happy.
  • Pupils behave well during lessons and social times.
  • There is a purposeful learning environment in classrooms.
  • The school has high expectations of pupils’ achievements.
  • Pupils enjoy the wider opportunities that the school has to offer.
  • The school has an accurate understanding of the quality of education.
  • Pupils are prepared well for the next stages of education or employment.

The parent view survey was overwhelmingly positive about all aspects of the school and about how parents would recommend the school to others.

“The teachers are passionate about their subject, set high expectations and standards and succeed in motivating and challenging students. As a result, students tell us that lessons are enjoyable. Therefore students are enthusiastic and committed to improving their knowledge, skills and understanding.”
