School Values

Kirkbie Kendal School has a long and proud history dating back to 1525 and the formation of the Kendal Free Schole and then Kendal Grammar School which moved to the current main building in 1889. In 1980 Kendal Grammar School and Kendal High School merged to form Kirkbie Kendal School. This long and proud history has left us with a legacy of some magnificent buildings along with a strong ethos and some traditional core values of:

  • Care
  • Hard work
  • Resilience
  • Curiosity

Care

We look after each other and our environment, celebrate diversity, are polite, courteous and considerate so that our school is tolerant, friendly and welcoming. We are generous in spirit and actively look for opportunities to give back to school and wider society.

Hard work

We are aspirational and know that most things worth achieving in life take hard work and that success involves good working habits.

Resilience

We are ready to make the most of opportunities that come our way and bounce back from any setbacks we have so that we can take on the chosen and unchosen challenges that life and learning will bring.

Curiosity

We are ambitious to know more and remember more, to understand the power of knowledge and learn about the world around us.

We are proud of the achievements of our students and they leave us as confident, aspirational and well-rounded individuals who will make a positive contribution to our society.
