Safeguarding at Kirkbie Kendal School

Safeguarding in a school is all about creating a culture where children are protected within the school. At Kirkbie Kendal School the safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. We feel that Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and all our staff are trained to be able to identify the signs and symptoms of abuse and have a thorough understanding of how to report any safeguarding concerns they may have. We have simple and clear procedures to follow and staff are clear who the Designated Safeguarding Leads are in school.

We work hard to ensure our students are able to look after each other and understand who to talk to and how to report any bullying, harassment or discrimination that takes place in or out of school. We also share information with our students on how to report any concerns they may have about their friends and what they should do if they are worried about themselves or others.

We also feel it is vital that our parents and carers understand how to report any concerns they may have about their young people or others and that process if detailed below.

If you have any safeguarding concerns during the school day then we encourage parents and carers to contact allsafeguarding@kksa.co.uk where your concerns will be dealt with and a member of the safeguarding team will respond to your concern as soon as possible.

The safeguarding team at Kirkbie Kendal are:

Mr Bousfield – Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mr Shepherd – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs Timms – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
