The Sixth Form students at Kirkbie Kendal School follow the school’s core values of ‘Care, Hardwork, Resilience and Curiosity to help them flourish and develop into mature and well-rounded young adults.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, so students can follow their chosen 3 or 4 A-Levels in an environment that encourages them all to meet their full potential. Students leave KKS to go to their chosen university, whether that’s local, further afield or indeed overseas. If this option is not for them, we help them through a higher level apprenticeship application or into the world of work.
The pastoral care of the students is very important to us and the current Ofsted report says, “Students receive good care, guidance and support from academic and pastoral staff.” Students are in small tutor groups, led by an experienced Sixth Form teacher. The weekly tutor programme is produced with the support of the students, to enable them to get the best out of their time.
We are very proud of our Sixth Form students; they hold positions of responsibility and are fully involved in the life of the school. We believe each student has an individual pathway to follow and will offer them the opportunities to develop their leadership skills and prepare for more independence ready for their next steps away from school.
