If you are looking at this page then we recognise that you are considering trusting us with something vital – the education of your child. There is lots of information on this website and you will find out lots more at our Open Evening in September and one of our Moving Up Evenings for Year 5 students and parent/carers. We are always happy to show prospective students and parent/carers around the school so that you can see students enjoying their learning, their positive relationships and the hard working atmosphere and wider opportunities the school can offer.
Kirkbie Kendal School community is a happy place to learn and work. Care, courtesy, consideration and hard work are at the heart of who we are and our visitors comment on the friendly and warm atmosphere of our school. We know our students well as individuals and they are well supported by their form teachers and our pastoral staff throughout their time in school.
We know that well supported and happy students will go on to achieve excellent examination results and believe that developing confident, well rounded individuals with strong values who can make a positive contribution to society is as important as these results to all our futures. We take great pleasure in celebrating the many successes of our students, whether they are academic or sporting, whether they take place in school or out of school, it is the success that matters.
We have high aspirations for all our students who work hard and are well supported by our fantastic team of staff to reach their full potential. We work hard to share as many careers and future pathways opportunities with students from Year 7 onwards so that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education or employment. We are proud of what our leavers achieve once they move on in to the wider community.
We are rightly proud of the work that goes on in classrooms every day in school but as important are the wider opportunities for our students. Extra curricular clubs and activities and trips and visits are a key part of the Kirkbie Kendal School experience. The opportunity to perform at the Brewery in one of our musicals, pulling on a shirt and representing the school in a football match or taking part in a debating competition can be transformational experiences for our students and they are as important in the development of your child as the work in the classroom.
We hope you enjoy our website and encourage you to follow us on social media to find out more about our school community and the amazing opportunities at KKS. I look forward to meeting you on a school tour or at open Evenings.
Best wishes
Mr Mark Harris
